Buckwheat!! Is an amazing horse! He is 13 hands – and just as gentle and calm as he can be! He is easy to clip, shoe, bathe, load, haul, saddle, bridle, and a joy to ride! He 99% of the time – stands very still to mount! Great for someone who has trouble mounting! He love children…..we have young ones that have rode him by themselves – ages 6 – 12+……… He does have a fast gait when called upon for those of you who trail ride and like to go faster! But!! He will come right back down to a very, very slow walk upon command – “without hesitation”! He does not throw his head wanting to go faster….he does not pull on the bit. He slows down without any hesitant behavior and is very contented to do “whatever the rider wants to do”. That is a good word to describe Buckwheat – he is “contented”. His ground manners are very quiet and still. Very slow moving. He has no quick movements and that is great for being with children! Buckwheat has been trail rode all of his life on some of the most difficult trails in Kentucky and Tennessee. He is not bothered by creeks, traffic, 4-wheelers, cycles- barking dogs – and he will cross just about anything you ask him to cross! Downed trees…logs -ditches —and handles so easily in doing all these things! He has been shown in some of the trail classes as well! Buckwheat is very affectionate and loves attention! Buckwheat has been taken on week long camping trips! He will stand patiently tied to a tree – fence, whatever! He is a pleasure to be with! If you want to stop and talk to someone for however long —-he will “patiently wait”. He comes to the fence to you – so easy to catch! All the videos will show you how very obedient he is! How quickly he stops! – On voice command. He backs! And will go at a slow walk “all …..day….long”. Buckwheat will make some family a beautiful addition for all ages! He is just amazing!
